MEET THE STAFF AT SYDNEY SHOCKS.

Here you find information on the staff that works at Sydney Shocks.

Allan Heasman - Director of Sydney Shock Absorbers (B Eng indust hons).

After completing his studies as an engineer Allan spent the next 3 month living in Germany. During his stay Allan worked for Bilstein at their factory in Ennepetal. From inside of one of the world’s best shock absorber factories Allan’s knowledge of the Bilstein product grew. He gained hands on experience on how they were made, how the technicians developed each part number and all of the testing procedures. Allan returned back to Australia to develop the business of importing and selling Bilstein shocks, started by his brother Doug. Since then Allan has returned to Germany several times in between running Sydney Shock Absorbers which has grown into one of Australia’s most specialised shock absorber retailer. As the business grew so did the need for more staff, Sydney Shock Absorbers now has a full time staff of 8 people. Allan has been the director of the company for more than 28 years.

Neil Israel - General Manager of Sydney Shock Absorbers.

As a junior Neil always enjoyed the precision of the race car. From the building of the engine to the way the vehicle glued itself to the race track. Neil raced for many years here in Australia before the lure of overseas competition called. Racing cars, building engines and teaching race craft to many overseas teams and competitors kept Neil busy for several years. Upon returning to Australia he teamed up with an old friend at Sydney Shock Absorbers and now takes his vast experience to several trade shows around the country. Neil has been an integral part of the team here for well over 7 years.

Paul Joyner - R & D Manager .

After being introduced to motor sport at Bathurst in 1980 Paul decided that being around a high performance motor vehicles was the best way to get the adrenalin running. His back ground of working on the floor at Heasman Steering, one of Australia’s longest serving suspension dealers, for 16 years has given Paul the knowledge of how a vehicle suspension works. Over the next 8 years he became involved with the building and servicing of Bilstein shock absorbers. During that time and with the experience he was gaining from working with some of the best people in motor sport combined with factory training, Paul helped many race teams win championships. From Speedway to F3, Drifting to O.E Manufacture Spec, Paul has built shocks to suit their needs. Paul has been with the company for over 25 years.

Johnathon McKinnon - R&D Engineer (B Eng mech hons).

Before he had finished his engineering degree at UTS, Jonathon’s knack for solving mechanical problems was identified and he was quickly snapped up by Boral Alternative Fuel Systems as project engineer for their work on the dedicated LPG fuelling systems as supplied to Ford. When this had been achieved Jonathon turned his hand to the sport he competed in. With several quick lap times in super sprint events he soon realised that a cars suspension was where the most time could be made. Jonathon’s expertise has seen Sydney Shock Absorbers lead the way in shock rate development. His ability to talk to the drivers and engineer a race cars suspension around the given information has seen many lap times tumble. Jonathon’s demonstration of practicing what he preaches can often be seen during the many events he competes in and in the championship his work has won. Jonathon has led the engineering team at Sydney Shocks for over 4 years.
